A discussion among four friends led to the formation of the club in 1993. These founding members served as the foundation executive council. Membership grew slowly in the early days with members predominantly from West Africa, and a few members from East and Southern Africa.
These founding members believed that Africa’s development should transcend the artificial boundaries drawn by the colonial experience of the continent. They insisted on a membership reflecting a true African organization.
